Nine more students at a Long Island high school have tested positive for COVID-19, forcing it to continue using its all-virtual learning plan following a small breakout. Last week, 15 students at Wantagh High School - including 13 members of the senior class - tested positive for COVID-19 and were placed into quarantine as the school went remote. The initial outbreak was traced back to a social, non-school-related event. 19: 1 In 6 US Counties Not Ready For In-School Education - Lookup Your County On Map
Is your county ready to return to full in-school education for elementary school students? According to new research by The New York Times, only 1 out of 6 counties in the U.S. have tamped down on the spread of COVID-19 enough to justify full-in person education. These counties tend to be sparsely populated in the Plains, West, and MidWest regions. This is concerning as President Biden and state governors have pushed for children to return to school within the next four months or so. The NYT has produced a new national map that shows, county-by-county, where cases of COVID-19 are low eno…

19: 15 Students Tests Positive At Long Island High School
More than a dozen students at a Long Island high school have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the district to transition some back to its all-virtual learning plan. Wantagh Schools Superintendent John McNamara announced that a total of 15 high school students - including 13 members of the senior class - have tested positive for the virus and have been placed into quarantine. McNamara says that the cases have been traced back to a social event held over the weekend that students attended en masse, though they are reportedly not all connected. Due to the small outbreak, seniors will …

All public Massachusetts elementary school students may be back in class this April. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, the Massachusetts Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education Jeffrey Riley made the announcement during a morning meeting. In a week or two, Riley said he will seek to obtain the authority to remove remote and hybrid learning as options for Massachusetts public school districts, WesternMass News reported. Riley cited ongoing vaccinations and declining COVID-19 infections as reasons for having all students resume in-school education. Right now, Massachusetts school districts ar…

A Union County fifth-grade teacher from Morristown who also coaches youth soccer was arrested by the FBI after sending a hard drive containing child porn that he’d created to a California company to recover his files, authorities said. Steven Brooks, 34, who recently taught at Washington Elementary School in Summit and has helped run the Livingston Soccer Club the past 10 years, used a fake online profile to get underage boys to send him videos and photos, authorities said Tuesday. How Did Bergen School Principal, Assistant Principal ‘Vanish'? Those Who Know Won't Say
It’s been nearly a month since their local middle school principal and his second in command suddenly "vanished" from the district, and concerned parents in Wyckoff, as well as their children, still have no idea why. Had they gotten into some kind of trouble? Were they fired? Did they quit? “We found out that we had no principal and vice-principal through the hair salon and through town gossip,” prominent civil attorney Michael Epstein said during a Wyckoff Board of Education Zoom meeting Monday night. Parents in the northwest Bergen County town who are concerned for their children’s safet…
